WordPress Maintenance & Care Plans — South Africa
Your WordPress Website Needs More Than Just a Build — It Needs Ongoing Care
Affordable WordPress website maintenance and support plans for South African businesses. We keep your site secure, fast, backed up, and up to date — every single month.
What happens without maintenance
What an Unmaintained WordPress Website Actually Risks
Most South African business owners don’t realise how much work happens behind the scenes to keep a WordPress site safe and running. Here’s what’s at stake when that work doesn’t happen.
Security vulnerabilities
Outdated WordPress core, themes, and plugins are the number one entry point for hackers. A single unpatched plugin is enough to compromise your entire website and damage your reputation with customers.
Website going offline
Plugin conflicts, hosting issues, and broken updates can take your site down completely. Without a backup and someone monitoring it, you might not even know for hours — or days.
Slow page load speeds
Without regular performance checks and cache clearing, WordPress sites gradually slow down. Google ranks slow sites lower and visitors abandon them — meaning you lose traffic and customers over time.
No backup to restore from
If your site is hacked, crashes, or gets accidentally broken, the only way to recover it is from a recent backup. Without regular automated backups, that data is gone forever.
Broken functionality
WordPress updates don’t always play well together. A plugin or theme update can quietly break your contact form, your checkout, or your navigation without any obvious warning — until a customer tells you.
Dropped search rankings
Google penalises slow, insecure, or broken websites. A site that hasn’t been maintained can gradually lose its search rankings — sending customers to competitors while you’re not watching.

The real cost of doing nothing
What It Looks Like With and Without a Care Plan
The R350–R950 a month you pay for a care plan is not a cost — it’s insurance against much larger, messier, and more expensive problems.
Your site gets hacked at 11pm on a Friday
A plugin hasn’t been updated in 8 months. A bot exploits the vulnerability, injects malware, and Google flags your site as dangerous. Visitors see a red warning screen. You lose a weekend trying to fix it — or pay an emergency developer rate of R500–R1,500/hour to clean it up. Your Google rankings drop. Customers lose trust. The fix takes days.
That vulnerability never existed
We updated that plugin three weeks ago as part of your monthly maintenance. Your site was scanned for malware the previous week and came back clean. Your last backup ran this morning. You spent your Friday evening with your family. Your customers never knew anything was wrong. Your Google rankings are fine.
A WordPress update breaks your contact form
You update WordPress yourself, a plugin conflict breaks your contact form, and you don’t notice for two weeks. How many enquiries did you miss? You have no idea. You either pay a developer to diagnose and fix it or spend hours Googling the problem yourself.
We catch it before it costs you
We test all updates on a staging environment before applying them to your live site. If a plugin conflict is detected, we resolve it before it ever affects your visitors. Your contact form keeps working. Your enquiries keep coming in. You don’t even know there was an issue.
Common questions
Frequently Asked Questions
Do I need a maintenance plan if my website was just built?
Yes — in fact that’s the best time to start. A brand-new WordPress site needs ongoing updates from day one. WordPress, plugins, and themes release security patches and updates regularly, and without someone applying them your site becomes more vulnerable every month that passes.
Can you maintain a WordPress site you didn’t build?
Absolutely. We take on maintenance for any WordPress site, regardless of who built it. We’ll do an initial audit to assess the site’s current health — checking for outdated software, security vulnerabilities, and performance issues — before onboarding you onto a care plan.
What happens if my site gets hacked while on a care plan?
On our Standard and Premium plans, hack recovery is included at no additional cost. We restore from the most recent clean backup, remove the malware, patch the vulnerability, and get your site back online as quickly as possible. On the Basic plan, recovery is billed at our standard hourly rate.
What counts as a “content update”?
Content updates include things like changing text on a page, swapping an image, updating your business hours, adding a new team member, updating a price, or publishing a blog post. They don’t include building new pages, redesigning sections, or adding new functionality — those are quoted separately.
Is there a lock-in contract?
No. All our care plans are month-to-month. You can cancel at any time with 30 days’ notice. We don’t believe in locking clients in — we’d rather earn your business every month by doing great work.
Do you provide maintenance for WooCommerce stores?
Yes — our Premium Care plan is specifically designed for WooCommerce stores, where downtime or broken functionality has a direct impact on revenue. It includes WooCommerce order and product support, advanced performance optimisation, and priority support with a 4-hour response time.
How do I know what you’ve done each month?
Every care plan client receives a monthly maintenance report by email — a plain-English summary of every task completed on their site that month, including which plugins were updated, the results of security scans, backup status, and any performance findings. No technical jargon, just a clear record of the work done.
Do you provide maintenance outside Bloemfontein?
Yes. We provide WordPress maintenance and support for businesses across South Africa — from Johannesburg and Cape Town to Durban, Pretoria, and smaller towns nationwide. Everything is handled remotely and you’ll always deal directly with our team, never a call centre.
